Mokoroa is a family-owned winery. It was founded in 2008 by Jose Antonio Mokoroa and his family. Currently the whole family works in the winery, harvesting the best crops year after year. The winery is situated in Zarautz next to Getaria. Mokoroa owns 6 hectares of vineyards, all trellised and on slopes, facing the Cantabrian Sea. Hondarrabi Zuri is the local white wine variety that occupies most of the vineyards along with a small percentage of Chardonnay and the local red vine variety of Hondarrabi Beltza.
