Baron de Funes

Cariñena

During the spanish civil war, the Italian legionary aviation settled in Cariñena. The troops stayed at the Sanctuary of the Virgen de Lagunas and the pilots and controllers in the homes of the best families of the area. One of the pilots, which was very brave and nicknamed the “Baron of the Air”, fell in love with a beautiful local girl, surnamed Funes. Due to war and cultural issues they could not be together, but the Baron always left a rose or other flower and a letter to his beautiful Funes, near the Sanctuary, where some of our wineyards are today. Baron de Funes is a floral celebration of love and its associated with the most intense and permanent. With the fire of amorous passion and senses: smell, taste. It evokes memories and reminiscences that keeps the heart.
